Great Dane Spool Corn Cob Pipe

(14 customer reviews)

The Great Dane Spool Corn Cob Pipe from Missouri Meerschaum is a nod to old world craftsmen and the styling of Danish pipes from the 1980s.

Designed to fit comfortably in the hand for both right- and left-handed smokers, the trusty and familiar Spool is a long-time mainstay in our line of larger, filtered pipes.

This pipe accommodates a 6 mm filter and has a genuine hardwood insert in the bottom of the bowl.

    Great Dane Spool review

I found the Great Dane Spool with a bent bit, at a flea market and had to have it for my collection of Cobb pipes. It feels comfortable in my hand and is light. I did notice that the top of the bowl got hotter than I thought it should but that’s miner. Great pipe.

    A Great Pipe!

I have had this pipe for a few weeks and it has quickly become one of my favorites. It delivers a cool, medium-sized smoke, and doesn’t get hot.

    My first cob pipe

I’ve been interested in purchasing a corn cob pipe for a while, but never could bring myself to order one from the website that I order my tobacco from. One day I decided to visit MM’s website and I discovered this beauty. This is a wonderful pipe that holds a medium amount of tobacco, probably good for a 45 min to an hour smoke. It doesn’t overheat. It is very aesthetically pleasing and is rather light; it does not weigh on the jaw too much if you’re smoking hands-free. I would highly recommend, especially at the price point.

    My favorite cob!

I got my Danish Spindle pipe (bent bit) several months ago and have really enjoyed the heck out of it. I got it on a bit of a whim since I tend to like smaller pipes in more traditional shapes, but this one was just too interesting to pass up! As it came, it was a good pipe, but a tad heavy for clenching; that’s nothing that a softie bit couldn’t fix though. Now it’s a constant companion of mine. It’s my favorite reading pipe and one of my favorites to smoke while driving too. In spite of its size, it’s a great traveler and I make sure to never hit the road without it.

    Great pipe. Great price.

I’ve loved Missouri Meerschaum cobs for a while and this one is probably my favorite. It takes a filtered stem which means it can handle a “forever stem” from briarworks. The shape is so comfortable as well as keeping the bowl nice an cool. Can’t recommend this one enough.

    Just wow…..

Hi folks. My name is Johnny and I live in Germany. I have about 15 briar pipes but I mostly reach out to my great dane or the patriot. These neat little pipes were made so well that smoking any kind of tobacco in em is a great great pleasure. And they look cool and unique as well. If I could have just one pipe man it would be a missouri meerschaum for sure.

    My current favourite cob

I have the spool model with a bent bit, this is a really amazing pipe that punches way above it’s price. It has a large bowl (30 minutes to smoke roughly) with an excellent smooth finish, it is by far the most comfortable pipe to hold I have tried yet. While smoking it stays cool until the end and doesn’t get too hot or wet. The quality of the smoke is equal to what I get out of my briar (which is 4 times the price) which is what really surprised me, I don’t think I’ll be giving this one up anytime soon!

    Fantastic pipe!

I have one Great Dane, spindle bowl straight.
Very beautiful and characteristic pipe; furthermore, its shape makes it very comfortable to hold.

These pipes are just too cool….

I have the bent and straight versions of both the egg and the spool models. They are all outstanding pipes, and smoke cool to the end. If you want to get all the taste out of your tobacco, MM is the only way to go. These pipes are good for a 20-30 minute smoke. They balance great in your mouth, and your hand. They are light enough not to cause any jaw fatigue. And they look super-cool.

    A real show pice

I am reviewing the egg shaped pipe. This is my favorite cob pipe…period. If I could only have one pipe, this would be it. It is a very attractive pipe. It feels great to hold in your hand or mouth, smokes great, and smokes for a long period of time. I have given a number of these to visitors from Europe who enjoy pipes. They have later remarked that they find themselves smoking the Great Dane more often than their expensive Danish briar pipes. They love to use it as a conversation piece to talk about their visits to America. That’s about as good as it gets.

    A great looking cob

Just received one of these, a spool shaped bowl with a bent bit. It smokes amazing and looks just awesome. Definitely a great product to consider adding to your pipe collection!

    Enjoy these pipes

Have been smoking cigars and decided to go back to a pipes. I had a couple of brier pipes, but wanted to try a corn cob pipe. I had one many years ago but was lost over the years. I like them as they are lighter and for some reason just smoke better. this pipe is done very nicely and the bowl size gives me a nice long smoke. Will be ordering more soon.
