General Corn Cob Pipe

$18.39

(22 customer reviews)

The General Corn Cob Pipe from Missouri Meerschaum is filtered with a large, tall bowl that offers a longer smoke.

The General has a genuine hardwood insert in the bottom of the bowl.

Available in either bent or straight bit.

Also available as part of our 2-Pipe American Assortment Gift Set, which includes one General and one Patriot pipe.

Due to the nature of the corn cobs themselves, you may notice some chipping on the top edge of your pipe. This is perfectly normal and won’t in any way affect the way your pipe smokes. The chips only add to the charm and character of your corn cob pipe. Enjoy!

Hello all I purchased this pipe in the straight and bent steams after seeing several of my friends on the Pipe Cottage Social Web Sight talking about how happy they were about this pipe and they were right on about this pipe I upgraded both my pipes with Forever Stems and what a great difference it made ,both smoked great with the factory stems just wanted to upgrade my pipes you want a large pipe that smokes a hour or more this is the one, smokes cool and sweet no matter what you load in it.The General gives the orders Cheers from Kentucky!

This is the best cob pipe here.
It is second by the chamber size – after BWC #3 and it is the only one with 22mm chamber diameter which places it aside all the rest. It’s chamber is straight inside, which is great, comparing to conic chamber inner shape of all the others. Acrylic bit suffers from teeth, as usually with MM pipes… I love this pipe.

Great long smoker for quiet times in the backyard. I pack and light my General, then think for a long while. I’m adding another one with a forever stem from Vermont Freehand.

    Meine absolute Lieblingspfeife!!!!

    Translation:
    My absolute favorite pipe !!!!

This pipe is just amazing. Due to its size, it is great to hold in your hand. And it just feels great doing it, a real hand flatterer. This MM is definitely the best I’ve ever had.
Due to the very large filling volume, I always first put some meerschaum granulate into the bowl and then put the pipe tobacco on top. In conjunction with a 6 mm filter, this creates an extremely mild and dry smoking experience.
This pipe is perfect for simply smoking away everyday problems after work in the evening.
    Kudos to the MM team.

Like most of the MM faithful I have many cobs, but the General is by far my favorite. It holds a lot of tobacco and it’s perfect for enjoying a nice long smoke.

  6. Bohannonpiper

Full smoking/ quicker finish than some

I smoke fast but it doesn’t get hot to me, flavor is great, but need a tougher bit I clench like a pitbull and have to adjust every once in a while or afraid it might pierce through

    Beautiful Pipe

The General is a beauty and a great conversation piece. However it took me a lot of practice to learn how to load it right. I was overpacking for quite awhile and it would get very hot! It likes to be loaded pretty light and then tamp down as needed to tighten it up after its lit. Its a great smoker but there’s a learning curve to get it to smoke well

    Big bold pipe

This is a real chimney of a pipe. Tall, hefty, and handsome, this is a real mans pipe. Pair it with a good ‘forever stem’ from Walker Briar Works (I have a 3.25″ curved one for my bent stem general) and it only becomes MORE handsome. Even if you don’t smoke, if you’re like me, you will find this a nice pipe to clench between your teeth while working on some small project, reading, browsing the web, or even just watching TV or binging a series like I am now while writing this. Well worth the money, handsome, and doesn’t leave a gaping $ 100 or (shudders) bigger hole in your wallet. Well worth every penny.

  9. Great price for what you get!!!

    Awesome looking pipe

Got my Devil Anse Cutty and my General in the mail today. Ive spent most of theme smoking the Devil Anse cute. My General smoked really hot to the point I couldn’t hold it. Smoking Prince Albert in it which usually dont ge things real hot. Smoking the same cadence I use in my Devil Anse briar and ” little devil” corn cob seems to get the general hot. I was kina hoping the very large bowl would fight against heat pretty good but so far it doesnt take much to get the General really cooking. Im optimistic with some practice and using a more mild aromatic like Captain Black or Land 1Q will keep it from burning hot. Prince Albert can get pretty damn hot and probably wasn’t a wise choice for trying out the biggest pipe I have ever known. Still love the pipe and love a challenge!!!!

    Pairs Well With an Armchair

This is an excellent pipe for long smokes. It’s a very large pipe and is not the best for clenching. However this pipe is well made and has a thick bowl that will smoke any kind of tobacco well. Despite its deep, large diameter bowl, it smokes cool and sweet right out of the box. I am a professional historian and this is my go-to for when I take my work from the office to my porch. If you are looking for a long, sweet smoke, this is your pipe. 5/5 I will be purchasing another.

    A Fine Smoking Instrument

I’ve been a MM smoker for about 6 years now, I’ve had a General for about 1, I’ll say at first it’s an interesting and intimidating Piece, use it a couple times and it becomes an old friend. I’d been using Washington and Missouri Pride, so it at least doubled the smoke time. If you want a High Quality pipe that’ll give ya a good long smoke, This is it

I can only tell you this smokes perfectly

I received this in a bag of seconds so I can really only in good conscience give you good info on how it smokes. As with most MM cobs it is an impeccable smoker. I was a little afraid after my first smoke of this because I smoked it hot and fast (Even though I knew I shouldn’t) and I could see that it expanded at the top a bit and thought I might split it. This was my issue and not a problem with the design. It is a big bowl and was stoking so well I couldn’t stay off it. I like the way it feels in my hand and I think I will definitely use this for any long smokes I want to do. Another quick note – I have re-lit this a couple of times and with a match, I felt like it was extremely easy to light the bottom without fear of torching the sides. I don’t think you could make a pipe this size any more comfortable. (Once again, I did get this in a bag of seconds and it was pretty screwed up aesthetically. I had this set aside for quite a while before I lit it because I was scared it was a throw away. I am certainly glad I smoked it and it will be a go to for me for long smokes. I am going to buy another as well)

    Huge!

This is a big pipe. I love to pack this for a long sit and smoke on my porch. It smokes very cool and very long. Great job on this pipe.

    This one is special

I bought a General a couple of years ago. It is one of 5 cobs I own, and part of a collection of 25 or so pipes. I only smoke Frogmorton cellar in it, and it is always a dry, cool, long and satisfying smoke. You should buy one too!

    What a brilliant piece.

The general smokes with authority. One must heed the general and respect its resolve, smoke it too hot and it punishes you. It’s like dancing the tango with an enamoured and overly jealous Latin lady. It gives you love, affection and cares for your every need but if you step on its toes, it’ll leave you distraught and utterly buggered. it smokes for a good 50 to 60 minutes if you take your sweet time (I smoked Amphora’s Virgina). The general is not for the faint of heart. You must have a year of smoking experience before picking one up. I love it with an estranged passion that fills me with benevolence no other corn cob does.

    A genuine American smoker.Perfect

I do not speak English, I only speak Spanish, I apologize, I use a translator.

The pleasure is unique, nothing equal.
Perfect smoked.Fresh, tasty and do not change them for any.

    Long sweet smoker.

Second only to my Gent by a hair. I own nine with more on the way and will eventually own them all. The General is my thinking pipe. Long and cool. If your on the fence about cobs, gently dismount said fence and get one…you will be pleased and own more in time. MM pipes are all i own now days and don’t regret not owning Briers. Smoke well my friends.

  18. Voorhees

    Great cob!

I entered a Slow Smoke Competition and this was the pipe everyone used. I came in 3rd, best part was I got this great General cob to take home. It smokes beautifully and is finished nicely as well.

  19. Triva

Perfect for a long cool smoke

This is my go to pipe for a long car ride, a long walk for the dog or whenever I want a longer smoke and don’t feel like getting out one of my MacArthurs (for an even longer smoke, but that’s another review for another time). The bent stem is perfect for driving because the bowl doesn’t interfere with my line of sight and it’s light weight.

  20. Alex A.

    Great pipe

The General was my first MM model, and I still love it. Looks good and is great for medium to long length smokes. I just think it could be even better (meaning even cooler-somking) with a natural, unpolished finish.

    nice pipe

this is bigger than I normally smoke but I just had to get one. i’m glad I did. it feels good just to hold in your hand and that large bowel burns nicely. it’s not my everyday thing, but for those times I want a long, cool smoke, I’ve got a great “go to” pipe.
it’s also very nicely made. solid, smooth and perfect in every way. my hat is off to MM quality control. you know what we want and that keeps us coming back.

  22. Jerry B-P Riggs

Great for when you want a smoke that will last you a while without having to refill while driving or working.

This is my work-horse. This is my kind of pipe. It’s big, but because it’s a corn cob, it is lightweight and easy to hold between your teeth without having to take it out to relieve yourself of the pressure on your jaw. Smokes great, stays lit, and you can still see over the bowl which does not obstruct your vision when you are driving or, like me, drawing or writing while smoking it. The artist W. W. Denslow who illustrated the Wizard of Oz books, was a corn cob pipe smoker and preferred this size of cob when he was drawing for all those reasons. This is the pipe that has it all as far as I’m concerned. I have more of them than all the other models of Missouri Meerschaums (and believe me, I have lots!), and every one of them is still in use. They last a long time and just get better with time!
