Apple Diplomat Corn Cob Pipe

$17.49

(40 customer reviews)

The Apple Diplomat Corn Cob Pipe from Missouri Meerschaum is one of our most sought after shapes in our larger, filtered pipes.

The chubby and familiar oval-shaped bowl is popular for a reason! Comfortable in the hand and pleasing to the eye, the Apple Diplomat is sure to be a welcome addition to your pipe smoking rotation. This pipe accommodates a 6 mm filter and has a genuine hardwood insert in the bottom of the bowl.

It is available as a straight or bent bit, and is included in our family of 2 Pipe Gift Sets.

Due to the nature of the corn cobs themselves, you may notice some chipping on the top edge of your pipe. This is perfectly normal and won’t in any way affect the way your pipe smokes. The chips only add to the charm and character of your corn cob pipe. Enjoy!

This is the first missouri meerschaum pipe I ordered. And I’m glad I did. It smokes great. Feels good in the hand. And very well made. I’m very happy with my purchase.

  2. PAPipes (verified owner)

I have to say, this is a wonderful pipe overall. It is comfortable to clench, hold in your hand, Fit and finish beautiful. I have some expensive very nice briars, and this ranks among them as a top pipe in the collection. Great for everyday, may even get a second. Very im-pressed with this corn cobb and it is my 3rd. I have the Shire Cobbit and The Emerald, both great pipes as well. Love the corn cobb pipes.

  3. gavila71

By far my favorite pipe. I have over thirty cobs, and it’s the one I always come back to. Just perfect design and work

  4. Bill Nellums (verified owner)

I’ve had a lot of pipes over the years but the best one I’ve had is the corn cob!!! I’ve had the Legend. It was cool smoking pipe I thought it was the best, but I’m sorry to say but now it’s the bent Apple Diplomat and now they don’t get any better than this!!! I am now waiting for my straight Apple Diplomat there never be another cob that is going in my rotation again. (unless you all have anything better). Thank you MISSOURI MERSSHUM.

  5. iBurley

Easily the best smoking pipe I own, and that’s including briar. The shape fits wonderfully in the hand, the chamber is on the larger size, and the danish bit is very comfortable and stylish. Even compared to other filtered cobs this one has the smoothest and easiest draw. It shows a complete lack of turbulence. If you need a larger cob, I don’t think you can go wrong with the apple-shaped Diplomat. Side note, I prefer the straight one, the bent just makes the bowl point away from you.

    Great First Pipe

Just started my journey into pipe-smoking, this was my first pipe and so I don’t have anything to compare too but I am very pleased so far. Will be ordering more MM pipes soon!

    My Favorite Cob

I own and rotate at least a dozen cobs and this one has seen more action than any of them, even the ones I’ve had a year longer. Many times I will reach for my diplomat instead of a briar. I’ve burned nearly every type of blend outside of aromatics in it for nearly a year and it just keeps smoking like a dream. Only a few slight signs of cracking (as well loved cobs do) here and there. I expect one day to get another one to rotate out, as I’ve become quite attached to it.

There isn’t a bad pipe made by Missouri Meerschaum

I have a bent Apple in natural finish and love this pipe. The natural finished pipes are my favorites to smoke but I do love all 40+ of my cobs. I slow smoke this pipe while on my deck watching fish jump and listening to geese. Natural or polished you can’t go wrong with this pipe. Great shape for the hand and smokes like a champ. (And the MM people are the best)

  11. Pellerin

    Buy this one

Another great pipe purchase from MM. The shape of the bowl and dimensions makes it easy to clean. MM customer service just cant be beat.

  12. Lucius

    My fave…

I have a few filtered cobs but this one is my favorite. It “smokes” well. The tobacco seems to like being smoked in this pipe. I just ordered a Charles Towne. Nope! This is no ordinary pipe. This ladies and gentlemen is a Missouri Meerschaum.

  13. Cakes

    Great sweet smoke

I begged my wife for the 2 MM gift box, it contained the Apple and the 5th Avenue Diplomat. The 5th Avenue is a little big for me but the Apple is by far awesome! It fits in my hand so comfortably and smokes great! I have tried different tobaccos in it and I found that it really combines good with Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic. The cob smokes cool and dry and somehow makes the tobacco really tasty and sweet! I just got into pipe smoking 4 months ago and already have 10 pipes 3 are MMs. I just went out today and bought a Rob Roy Legand at Rite Aid because I did not want to wait for one to come in the mail LOL!!!! I’m going to try some C&D Autumn Evening in it tonight before it’s time for night -night!!!!!

  14. Mike G

    Great looking and great smoking

I love Missouri Meerschaum pipes, I own a lot of briars too but man I love this pipe. Classy look and cool, easy smoke!

  15. Tom

1 of my all time favorites.

I ordered 1 of these from amazon
and loved it from the moment I first smoked it.
Unfortunatly I had forgotten 1 of the cardinal rules of pipin…
Which is to NEVER tap your pipe on a hard surface
to empty the bowl of dottle.
As a result of this mistake…
The bowl developed cracks in 2 spots
that made it hazzardous to smoke.
I will be gettin another 1 and lesson learned
    OR relearned I should say.
I wont be tappin it out anymore.

  16. Viking-Tim

    A great starter pipe

I am new to the world of smoking a pipe one month in so far and love it! Been smoking cigarettes and cigars for years and finally decided to try my hand at pipe smoking. This pipe is great for my budget and now that I feel more confident as far as packing and lighting a pipe. I want to upgrade to a briar, but overall this is a nice starter pipe for a newbie. Nice shape, not too heavy, and packs a punch, it gets the job done nicely! I would definitely purchase a couple more in the future!

  17. Houseplant

    Good looking and easy

This was my first pipe, just received it today. I sat out on the porch and smoked it and it was fabulous. Great looking pipe, very simple. Ordering from Canada made the price a little much for me but in the grand scheme of things it was still very affordable. Smoked it with my Great Dane in the sunlight and had a great time. I’d recommend it for anyone.

  18. Jurica

    Great pipe

My first MM corncob and I’m very pleased how it performs. Excellent value for the price you pay.

  19. Clayton

    One of My Favorite Pipes

This pipe is in my rotation and is one of the best. It is an excellent smoker, the bowl diameter is perfect, and you can set it down almost anywhere. This is a 1 light pipe that is durable and well worth it. I enjoy smoking this over any of my briar pipes.

    Apple in the sky

This apple Diplomat is just simply Amazing but then again why wouldn’t it be it’s another kick ass take no names made from the Missouri Meerschaum company. Smokes cool, Looks cool, And OUTSTANDING Craftsmanship. Buy one and see hell buy two cause you will want one for hard days work and one to just kick back and enjoy.

  21. Michael

    Great pipe

I love the look and feel of this pipe. This is my favorite of the bigger size MM pipes. I have many MM pipes and they all smoke fantastic and this one is no different. I have a straight stem and a bent. Love them both.

    Now I’m Sophisticated

Don’t tell my wife, she’ll want me to shave. What a beautiful bent apple. Smokes great, looks like a prince. I feel suave, and lusty, upper-crusty smoking this fine Missouri Meerschaum. You could smoke Lucifer’s Virginia out of this thing, and not burn your fingers, with the nice thick walls of the bowl. Highly recommended.

  25. Bolshie (verified owner)

    My favourite pipe

I’ve been smoking pipes here in the UK since the 1970s, and have racks full of briars, meers and every other type of pipe. But I smoke my apple-bowled, bent-stemmed Diplomat every single day. Try it with a fill of Dunhill Navy Rolls – you won’t be disappointed. It sits so well in the hand; it fills and lights so easily; like all the Missouri range, it burns cool all the way down, every single time. I own several much more expensive pipes – I don’t own a better pipe. I think the low price puts people off sometimes – they think cobs must be inferior to sell for so little. But like many smokers, I actually find the smoking quality to be superior to other types of material. Long may this great company continue to produce these beautiful, bargain pipes!

    Easy Traveler

Before I received one of these pipes I thought that it was just a Country Gentleman without a dark finish. This is not the case. The pipe is lighter and a little smaller overall. I got a gift set with both the Apple and the 5th Avenue. The bent Apple gives you a solid 30-minute smoke and the 5th Avenue can go for almost 45 minutes if packed correctly. The shank and the bowl walls are not as think as the Country Gentleman, but that only makes it easier to smoke and clinch. Although many say that these pipes do not need a break-in period, I think that a 3 bowl gradual fill helps the performance in the long run. That is to say, fill the bowl 1/3 full, 2/3 full, and then 3/3 full for the first 3 smokes. During the first couple of smokes I do get a taste of wood at the end of the smoke, but that goes away after the carbon has been distributed in the break-in period. After that you have a great pipe that you do not have to worry about. You can simply smoke; and that is the purpose of all this in the first place!

  27. Steve

    My favorite pipe so far

I have one of these and it is the first pipe that i grab. I love it. Smokes great, with or without the filter. Absolutely worth the money!

  28. Steve (verified owner)

    Great Product.

I have been a pipe smoker for over 48 years and have only recently discovered the joy of smoking MM cob pipes. These are honestly the best smoking pipes to be had, regardless of price. I have many briar pipes in my collection that now sit idle while my cobs are smoked every day. The cool dry smoke from a Diplomat, Mark Twain, or Country Gentleman really allow one to enjoy the flavor of the chosen tobacco. Hats off to Missouri Meerschaum for continuing the legacy of a great American product.

  29. Pancho Petrov

    This one’s great!

I have the 5th Avenue model of the Diplomat pipe. I really appreciate the form of the pipe. A very fine pipe!

  30. Hippiebrian

    Superior smoking experience

The 5th Avenue is my favorite pipe bar none. While I love the others, this one just fits in my hand nice, is a sitter (no need to carry a stand) and just smokes like a dream! I have several mid price (150-250 bucks) briars that now just sit while I smoke my MM’s. Quit doddling! Buy a couple. They are less than a tin of tobacco and will be the best pipe related purchase of your life, I promise!

  31. puddle

    excellent smoker

Got into smoking corn cobs just by chance. I had always smoked briar pipes. I enjoy hunting and fishing and didn’t want to risk breaking one of my more expensive pipes. So I ordered a diplomat. And as it turns out, I would rather smoke corn cobs than my briars most of the time. I would suggest that MM should offer all of their pipes with the option of a darker stained bowl, like the Country Gentleman and Patriot.

  32. fatboy

    great pipe

Got this and a Country Gent for my birthday and I love them both. This fat pipe holds a good amount of tobacco in the larger bowl, and its size fits well in a large hand. The thickness of the bowl is impressive and insures it will last years and years. I have the apple and it is a little big to carry in the teeth but feels so comfortable in the grip. My briars are gettin dusty now, and the cobs have become my favorites for every day smoking. Cobs absorb moisture and displace it so quickly I can smoke them all day.

  33. Rod0559

    Old Briar

After years of being a briar smoker y decided to try one of this “curious” corn cob pipes. Mi first buy were 2 Diplomats (an apple and a diplomat). WOW!!! my new MMs have been a revelation. Cold, dry an delicious smoke. Now I have one of each, and more on the way.
So much money spend in expensive briars, I don’t regret, but now 90% of my smoking goes to my MM corn cobs.
You have another fanatic on your huge list.
If you have any doubt, it’s worth trying for $9 or less.

  34. matt

    Awesome Pipe

I just ordered this one in a bent apple shape. Smoked it, and it is awesome. There is no pipe like a corn cob pipe.

  35. L

    Bloody good pipe

In Australia pipe selection and variety is very limited so after placing what I would consider a very cheap order for some cob pipes I was amazed at how good my Diplomat smokes. It burns the tobacco well and really changes the whole smoking experience. Would highly recommend to anyone.

  36. miss-beehaven farm

    # 1 best pipe

the price on this pipe is great. The hardwood plug makes this pipe last a good long time. A nice size bowel on this makes it my favorite to relax with.

  37. david

    corncobs are great

I have smoked a pipe since 18. I’m now 69. I have smoked all kinds of pipes: Meerschaum, briar, porcelain, clay, calabash etc. Corncob is the best smoke. Now I won’t smoke anything else. These are the finest!

  38. Triva

    Love it!

I got one with the Grab Bag Promo and I love it. I smoke it more often than my briars. The round bowl feels perfect in my hand and well balanced and elegant looking. Other than some very, very minor cosmetics, I can’t tell it from a “first” and neither can anyone else. Perfect for a morning smoke with a mild blend and good coffee or pretty much any other time of day.

Corn cobs let you taste your tobacco

I’ve been smoking pipes for quite a few years, and there is nothing like a corn cob pipe. These are not costly, seem to last forever, and beats the exspensive briar pipes by a mile, plus there’s really no “breaking in” period, they let you taste the tobacco rather then tasteing wood. I have regular meerschaum pipes, which are fine, but I won’t take them out of my house for fear of breaking them. So, I take my Missouri Meerschaums with me. I have about 30 or so of them, some very old, some new. And should they need repair, plaster of paris for the bowl, and for the stem…well, they don’t break….come loose? Sometimes, but you can either just jam it back in, or use a bit of white glue for a permenent hold. The mouth piece can be bought right here on MM’s site. I always buy a few extras of all styles. In closing…don’t wste money on exspensive pipes…buy some Missouri Meerschaums.

    Color Me Impressed

I started pipe-smoking about a year ago and have quickly grown a collection of 19 regular smokers: meerschaum-lined, metals, churchwardens, classics, you get the idea…I WISH I had started with one of these cobs. My new bent apple Diplomat is now my most frequently used pipe. If you’ve never tried a cob, you need too, soon. This is a truly impressive pipe and great for test-driving new tobaccos.
